Flipping Fundraising – How to Stack Up Pancake Day Donations

Any excuse for a pancake pun… Pancake Day is fast approaching, a little over a week away (Tuesday 4th March). So we thought why not get some flipping good fundraising ideas shared ready for you to put into action!

Fundraising Ideas for Pancake Day

These ideas for Pancake Day themed fundraisers would work particularly well for a school, church or community based good cause.

Pancake Breakfast Event

Set up a Pancake Breakfast station for pupils, employees or passers by! Making pancakes is hard, hot work so make sure you charge enough per pancake to make it worth your efforts.

If the odds are not stacked in your favour for a successful Breakfast event, then a pancake brunch or pancake dessert station after lunch could work just as well. In a school, perhaps a pancake at break-time for a small donation from parents would go down a treat!

Remember to provide plenty of topping options and of course some beverages to wash down those delicious pancakes.

Who wouldn’t want a tasty pancake on their way into school or work?

Pancake Flipping Contest

Who can flip their pancake the most times before it splats on the floor or sticks to the ceiling? You can either set the challenge of how many flips can be done in a minute, or time how long it takes to do 100 flips to identify your winner.

Or how about a race? (Think egg and spoon style but pancake and frying pan – Cooled of course, safety first!). For a fun alternative for little hands, use toy frying pans and pretend pancakes made from cardboard or felt.

This could be done both in person or even online through video – The more to share on social media the better! Your cause could reach a whole new audience. Don’t forget to encourage sponsorships, donations and a small fee to enter any competition you decide to run.

Pancake Decorating Competition

The origins of Shrove Tuesday and pancakes might lie in emptying the cupboards of treats ready for Lent to begin, but that doesn’t mean you can’t buy in a few extra delicious delights to make your pancakes extra tasty.

Why not go all out and see who can decorate the best pancake? As yummy as the traditional lemon and sugar is, we want to see more creativity.

We’re thinking whipped cream, chocolate chips, sprinkles, sliced strawberries, maybe even some syrups and sauces to finish them off!

Make Memories with a Pancake Recipe Book

What are your favourite Pancake Day memories? What toppings made it special for you and what stories do you remember? Inviting your community – Whether that’s a PTA, church congregation or local community – to share their favourite Pancake recipes along with a treasured memory for a Pancake Recipe Book is a beautiful way of bringing people together to share something really wonderful.

The great thing about communities like this is that it is likely filled with people from all walks of life from all around the world. Pancake recipes and flavours from other countries would make a great addition to a Pancake Recipe Book fundraiser.

You could print them to sell, or even create them as an e-book that can easily be sent out online to those who make a monetary donation.

Donater Are Flipping Great at Helping You Raise Money Digitally

That’s the last pancake pun, we promise. Here at Donater we have a suite of fundraising tools specifically designed to make giving easier. Easier for the donor to make a donation, and easier for charitable organisations to receive that all-important fundraising.

Our suite of online fundraising tools include:

A dedicated online fundraising page, personalised to your charity or good cause. Supporters will immediately recognise your branding and thus, trust that they are in the right place to make a donation. Online fundraising pages are easy to share online via a handy link, and can be easily linked to your website with a ‘Donate Now’ button.

QR codes. We’ve all become more accustomed to QR codes with the NHS Covid app, so you’ll know how quick and easy it is to scan one with your smartphone. QR codes can be just as handy for taking donations. All your supporter has to do is scan the QR code with their smartphone, and it will take them to an online donation page. Once there, they can choose to donate with a tap via Google Pay or Apple Pay, or pay with their bank details. QR codes are a great addition to any physical marketing about your event, such as posters or newsletters as well as transforming a traditional donation box into a mobile way of taking digital donations.

NFC Tags. Our NFC tags take the above QR code concept a step further, and enable any supporter of yours with an NFC enabled smartphone to merely tap the tag or sticker. They will then be taken to an online donation page where they can make their donation quickly and simply. These work better with in-person events, but could easily be placed at the entrance to your charity or on collection boxes so visitors can donate to your cause if they wish.

If you’re determined to take full advantage of mobile and online donations then you’re in the right place. Please get in touch to see how Donater could help boost your donations digitally this Pancake Day and beyond.
