Fundraising Ideas To Get Active this April

April tends to be the month where we start to see glimpses of more sunshine and slightly warmer weather. So it makes complete sense for April to be a great month to kick-start some activities to get you more active each day – Even better if they raise money at the same time!

Charities like Bowel Cancer UK and Carers UK are just two charities that run an active campaign throughout April. Search ‘Active for April’ and ‘Active April’ for more information on these fundraisers.

What are these ‘Active for April’ challenges?

These are annual fundraising campaigns that encourage supporters to do something active every day for the whole month of April to not only raise money for their worthy cause but also raise awareness.

All supporters have to do is choose their activities, share their efforts and ask friends, family and colleagues to sponsor them.

If the idea of taking on a challenge on their own seems a bit daunting, then why not motivate them to get their loved ones involved and sign up as a team?

You can register to raise money for these amazing charities on their websites.

Or alternatively, if you want to set up your own online fundraising platform for your own charitable cause then get in touch with us at Donater today. We’ll show you what our digital donation software can do for you.

Active Challenges Fundraising Ideas for April

There are plenty of ways you or your supporters can get active this April to raise vital funds for your charity or chosen cause. Here are some of our favourite ways to fundraise whilst getting active.

Get Out and Get Active

Sponsored Walk / Jog / Run

Choose whichever matches your level of fitness and challenge yourself to do a certain distance or route every day for the rest of April.

Sponsored Swim

Swimming is a great form of exercise and a brilliant choice for anyone who’s trying to gently introduce more movement into their routine. Make a splash with sponsorships by daring to do a spot of wild swimming and embracing the chilly water.

Sponsored Cycle

Your donation pot will be wheelie filling up with a spot of sponsored cycling this April. Being two-tired is no excuse not to get out and get active!

Sponsored Hill Runs

Near our HQ in Winchester we have the picturesque St Catherine’s Hill – Over 300 steps to the summit which will definitely have you puffed out! It’s a popular one with local fitness fanatics – There’s even a ranking on the Strava app if you fancy adding in a bit of friendly competition! This one would work well anywhere where there’s a local hill to test your stamina.

Sponsored Dog Walks

The challenge could be to try out some new routes and share your finds with friends and family – All for those precious sponsorships, of course! And a few cute photos of your pooch are always great motivators for a donation or two.

Sponsored Gardening

April is a great time of year to start venturing back out into the garden – Who’s mown their lawn yet? As the sunshine and warmer weather come back with a bit more predictability, you’ll be wanting to spend more time outside. So why not use April’s ‘Get Active’ month to get out in the garden.

Sponsored Skate

Skateboarding or rollerskating would be a great active challenge – Especially if it’s a new hobby! Share photo and video evidence of your efforts and the sponsorships are bound to whizz in like a skater off a half pipe! Oh, and don’t forget the knee and elbow pads!

Sponsored Outdoor Gym Session

Does your town or village have an outdoor gym? They’re popping up all over now – A great way to use the tools of the gym whilst also getting some fresh air!

Get Active Indoors or At Home

Sponsored Stair Runs

If you’re keen to get active, but don’t yet fancy heading outside and risking those Spring showers, then sponsored stair runs every day for the month of April could be just the active challenge for you.

Sponsored Yoga / Pilates

Yoga and/ or pilates are great activities to do at home whilst still getting active.

Sponsored Keepy-Uppies

If you’re footy mad then spending each day in April trying to beat your Keepy-Uppies record sounds like it’ll put the fun into fundraising! How many can you do?

Sponsored Push-Up / Burpees / Plank Challenge

We’ve all seen these types of challenges floating around Facebook or other social media platforms. They’re easy to tag your friends into, a great way to get active and bound to get those digital donations coming in.

Sponsored Indoor Walk

These types of workout are becoming super popular on YouTube and other social media channels. If getting active outside isn’t for you yet, then an Indoor Walk using a video prompt could be a fantastic alternative. Share the videos with friends and colleagues and encourage them to join in too!

Donater Can Help Your Charity Raise Money

Here at Donater we have a suite of fundraising tools specifically designed to make giving easier. Easier for the donor to make a donation, and easier for charitable organisations to receive that all-important fundraising.

Our suite of online fundraising tools include:

  • A dedicated online fundraising page, personalised to your charity or good cause. Supporters will immediately recognise your branding and thus, trust that they are in the right place to make a donation. Online fundraising pages are easy to share online via a handy link, and can be easily linked to your website with a ‘Donate Now’ button.
  • QR codes. We’ve all become more accustomed to QR codes, so you’ll know how quick and easy it is to scan one with your smartphone. QR codes can be just as handy for taking donations. All your supporter has to do is scan the QR code with their smartphone, and it will take them to an online donation page. Once there, they can choose to donate with a tap via Google Pay or Apple Pay, or pay with their bank details. QR codes are a great addition to any physical marketing about your charity and events, such as posters, newsletters and much more.
  • NFC Tags. Our NFC tags take the above QR code concept a step further, and enable any supporter of yours with an NFC enabled smartphone to merely tap the tag or sticker. They will then be taken to an online donation page where they can make their donation quickly and simply. These work really well with in-person events, and could easily be placed on collection boxes so supporters can donate to your cause online if they wish.

Get in touch today if you think Donater could help boost your donations digitally this ‘Active April’.
