Chocolate Egg Day might be over but the Easter holidays are in full swing, with plenty of fun fundraising opportunities still available to you and your charitable cause. We thought we would share some easy-to-implement fundraising ideas to keep your supporters busy over the next couple of weeks while they are enjoying the Easter break.
Fun Easter Fundraisers
These fundraising ideas can be themed to Easter as well as more general fundraising ideas that suit that Spring feeling and hopefully some more sunny days!
Easter Trail
Has the Easter bunny been? Easter Sunday might have been and gone, but the children are still off school for a week or two – It’s still the perfect hop-portunity for an Easter trail for families around a village or housing estate. Create a map and hide clues along a route – Maybe letters to spell out a word at the end?
Houses could decorate their homes as part of a competition (entry for a small fee, of course, with a prize for the best one).
Ask those taking part for a small fee in exchange for the route map, and offer a treat at the end for the children. Perfect to get families out in the fresh air whilst raising money! This type of fundraiser also works well at Halloween and Christmas.
Host an Easter Egg Hunt
Easter is a time where families get together all over the country. An Easter Egg Hunt with a small entry fee is a fantastic way to engage new supporters – Young and old – With your cause.
Hiding real chocolate eggs can feel a bit risky with our British weather, so why not hide pretend eggs to collect, with a treat at the end.
Our Donater QR codes would be a fantastic addition to your Easter egg hunt, providing an easy way for donors to make mobile donations quickly using their Smartphone.
Host a Planting Party
The arrival of Spring sunshine might make some people start to flex their green fingers. Springtime gets us all wanting to spend more time outdoors in the garden or in places of nature. Watching flowers start to bloom can bring so much joy! There is so much peace to be found in plants.
Host a Planting Party where for a small fee, supporters can come and plant a bulb, some seeds or even some vegetables to take away with them. Then they can watch it bloom at home – Which could even result in more donations later on!
A Donater QR code could be a great addition to care instructions or even the plant pot, so that if they feel moved to donate when that first tomato appears, your online donation page is easily accessed with just a quick smartphone scan!
De-Clutter and Donate
Is it time for a Spring clean? This time of year is popular for a bit of sorting and de-cluttering. The worst thing about having a sort out is the waiting to get rid of all that stuff you’ve decided you don’t need – Always plan an exit route!
So why not suggest your supporters hold a garage sale? They can set up a sale in their front garden and donate all the proceeds to your worthy cause.
Easter Bake Sale
It’s surprising how much money a simple bake sale can raise – There’s a reason why Bake Sales make nearly every list of fundraising ideas! Ask your supporters to bake some Easter themed goodies – From mini egg cookies to cakes deceorated with Malteaser bunnies! Maybe some traditional simnel cake too? They donate the baked goods, then you sell them! For 50p a slice, you’ll be swapping cash for cookies in no time.
Community Clean-Up Competition
With sunshine in the sky and warmer temperatures, people are going to start enjoying their local outside spaces more. Make the most of the good weather and encourage families to spend an hour cleaning up their road or local park.
They can buy bin bags and borrow litter pickers from your marshals for a small fee, and the family with the biggest bin bag(s) wins a prize! This one is a winner for everyone involved.
Easter Photograph Competition
Ask your supporters to snap a photo of them and their family enjoying the Easter sunshine – What does Easter mean to them? Charge a small fee to enter the competition, and make it a condition of entry to upload it and tag your social media profiles to reach an even bigger audience. Approach local companies to donate some really great prizes to encourage lots of entries!
Easter Fun Run
Fun runs are always popular, attracting both participants and sponsors. We’ve all seen the Santa fun runs – But what about a band of bunnies?
Alternatively, why not encourage supporters to do their own fun run in their own time? With apps like Strava, participants can complete their race at a time that suits them and then simply upload their time. Bunny costume optional!
Easter World Record Attempt
Who can eat the most Easter eggs in 10 minutes? Who can do the most bunny hops in 60 seconds? We’d wager that there are loads of Easter themed World Records that your supporters could attempt to beat.
Whilst this might sound a bit far-fetched, there are actually lots of doable, silly options! The quirkier the better for a bit of social media attention. The sponsor money is bound to come in!
Wishing Tree
Easter is a lovely time of year to plant a Wishing Tree (alive or faux). It’s a great fundraiser to do in your local community. Plant a special tree (or use an existing one), providing a way for people to donate a small fee (like a Donater QR code) and make a wish or remember a loved one. Then you can decorate the tree with everyone’s wishes!
Seedling Sale
Some people love the idea of home grown vegetables, but taking the time to plant and nurture the seeds is another story. So here’s a way to make it super easy for them to grow something and you to raise money.
Choose something relatively easy to grow, like tomatoes, and plant lots of seeds in seed trays. Once they have turned into seedlings, sell them for a small price and watch the fundraising pot grow!
Wild Swimming Challenge
Wild swimming has become hugely popular. What a rush to jump in the cold water – A total energy boost! With the slow increase in daytime temperatures and more sunshine peeking out from behind the clouds, more people are likely to be considering giving this a go. And what is more motivating to try something new, than being sponsored to do so?
Encourage your supporters to gather sponsorships to support their new hobby and your worthy cause! Don’t forget to inspire more people to take part by getting them to upload photos of their progress to social media and tagging you in. A brilliant way to reach a wider audience and attract new supporters and donors.
Remember to tell your supporters to only swim in designated, safe wild swimming spots and to never go wild swimming alone.
What We Do at Donater
Here at Donater we offer a suite of digital fundraising tools, from turning your donation tins to contactless collection boxes via QR codes, to Smart Stickers with NFC tags and ‘tap to donate’ technology. We can also set up your own dedicated, branded online donation page and link it directly to your website.
Our tools are specifically designed to make giving easier. Easier for the donor to make a donation, and easier for charitable organisations to receive that all-important fundraising.
If you would like any more information on any of these, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We’d love to chat about how these digital tools could work for your charitable organisation. Fundraise faster with Donater this Easter.
Digital Fundraising is easy to Integrate with Donater
Our suite of online fundraising tools include:
A dedicated online fundraising page, personalised to your charity or good cause. Supporters will immediately recognise your branding and thus, trust that they are in the right place to make a donation. Online fundraising pages are easy to share online via a handy link, and can be easily linked to your website with a ‘Donate Now’ button.
QR codes. We’ve all become more accustomed to QR codes with the NHS Covid app, so you’ll know how quick and easy it is to scan one with your smartphone. QR codes can be just as handy for taking donations. All your supporter has to do is scan the QR code with their smartphone, and it will take them to an online donation page. Once there, they can choose to donate with a tap via Google Pay or Apple Pay, or pay with their bank details. QR codes are a great addition to any physical marketing about your event, such as posters or newsletters as well as transforming a traditional donation box into a mobile way of taking digital donations.
NFC Tags. Our NFC tags take the above QR code concept a step further, and enable any supporter of yours with an NFC enabled smartphone to merely tap the tag or sticker. They will then be taken to an online donation page where they can make their donation quickly and simply. These work better with in-person events, but could easily be placed at the entrance to your charity or on collection boxes so visitors can donate to your cause if they wish.
