Mother’s Day Fundraising Ideas

This coming Sunday (19th) is Mother’s Day here in the UK. Not only is this a day all about honouring the mother figures in our lives and everything they do for us, but it’s also a perfect opportunity for your charitable cause to raise money and boost donations.

Here are our favourite fundraisers for Mothering Sunday!

Sell Flowers

This one would work particularly well if your charitable organisation is within your community – Like a school PTA, church committee or anywhere that enables you to see your supporters in person on a regular basis.

Either work with a local florist or bulk buy some flowers from a wholesaler, and make up small posies of flowers to sell for a few pounds.

Sell Mother’s Day Breakfast Boxes

Can you team up with a local bakery or shop? Perhaps they could sell a Breakfast Box through their business, donating a percentage of the profits to your charity. Or you can buy the produce needed to make up the Breakfast Boxes themselves and sell them to supporters to make Mother’s Day breakfast a breeze!

Hold a Bake Sale

You never need an excuse for cake! A Bake Sale is another great way of easily raising money for your charitable cause. Ask your supporters to bake something to bring along and sell – You’ll be surprised how much can be raised from a table of cakes selling at 50p – £1 per slice!

Host a Brunch

If you’re lucky enough to have venue space then why not put it to good use and host a charity brunch? Invite your supporters to bring their mums along for a pastry or fry up – Perhaps even accompanied by a morning mimosa!

Hold a Health and Wellbeing Fair

A health and wellbeing fair is a great way of letting your supporters spoil the mother figure in their lives! A hall full of people dedicated to making you feel relaxed, pampered and looked after? Yes please!

Charge each exhibitor a small fee for their table space, and then a small fee on the door for those attending. Everyone’s a winner!

Host an Afternoon Tea

Afternoon Tea is hugely popular nowadays – Especially as a Mother’s Day treat! Treat your supporters and their mum to an hour or two of cake, tea and scones – With all the proceeds going to your charitable cause.

Design a Mother’s Day Card Competition

This is another great one if you are a church or school – Or an organisation with plenty of children in your supporter network! For a small fee, children (or adults!) can design a Mother’s Day card and enter it in your competition. The top entries can be shared on your social media pages where your supporters can vote for their favourite – A great way to raise awareness and reach a new audience. You can then get the winning entry printed and sell it for even more donations!

Host a Mother and Daughter Wine and Paint Evening

We love this one – Some gentle encouragement for daughters to spend time with their mums whilst doing something they love! What could be better than an evening painting with their loved ones, whilst sipping on a glass of wine? Make sure you give people plenty of notice so they can clear their diaries and buy their tickets!

Can We Help You Raise Money Digitally this Mother’s Day?

Here at Donater we have a suite of fundraising tools specifically designed to make giving easier. Easier for the donor to make a donation, and easier for charitable organisations to receive that all-important fundraising.

Our suite of online fundraising tools include:

A dedicated online fundraising page, personalised to your charity or good cause. Supporters will immediately recognise your branding and thus, trust that they are in the right place to make a donation. Online fundraising pages are easy to share online via a handy link, and can be easily linked to your website with a ‘Donate Now’ button.

QR codes. You’ll know how quick and easy it is to scan one with your smartphone. QR codes can be just as handy for taking donations. All your supporter has to do is scan the QR code with their smartphone, and it will take them to an online donation page. Once there, they can choose to donate with a tap via Google Pay or Apple Pay, or pay with their bank details. QR codes are a great addition to any physical marketing about your event, such as posters or newsletters as well as transforming a traditional donation box into a mobile way of taking digital donations.

NFC Tags. Our NFC tags take the above QR code concept a step further, and enable any supporter of yours with an NFC enabled smartphone to merely tap the tag or sticker. They will then be taken to an online donation page where they can make their donation quickly and simply. These work better with in-person events, but could easily be placed at the entrance to your charity or on collection boxes so visitors can donate to your cause if they wish.

Please get in touch if you think Donater could help boost your donations digitally. We’d love to see your flipping fantastic fundraisers this pancake day – Why not tag us on Facebook or Instagram
