Giving Tuesday

#GivingTuesday – The Global Day of Giving

We’ve had Black Friday, now it’s time for #GivingTuesday –  Whether you’ve spent all your money on flash deals too good to miss or not, there’s a way you can give something back.

Ten years ago, back in 2012, Giving Tuesday was born. It’s a pretty simple idea – Basically, it’s a day of the year that is dedicated to encouraging people to do something good.

Now, after a decade of do-gooding, #GivingTuesday is now a global movement that inspires millions of people all over the world to give, collaborate and celebrate generosity.

We’re all feeling the pinch at the moment – But giving financially in the form of a monetary donation isn’t the only way people can give something on #GivingTuesday. There are lots of ways willing folk can help!

Here are some ways you could encourage your charity’s supporters (and potential donors) to give something to a charitable cause this #GivingTuesday.

Volunteer Your Time

Giving some of your time is just as valuable as giving money. You could volunteer with a community initiative – Perhaps a local organisation is planting trees in your local village and needs help digging holes!

Or maybe you have a professional role that could be super useful to a small local charitable cause – Perhaps you’re a digital whizz and can help them improve their local website for free, or a social media extraordinaire and can help them become more visible online.

Make a Donation

If you’re short on time, but not on cash, then maybe making a monetary donation is more up your street.

There are plenty of ways you can make a donation now – It’s so easy to donate online or via smartphone!

Donate Goods

If money and time are both a bit tight, then you could consider popping an extra packet or tin of something in your weekly shop. Maybe it’s a box of cereal, a bag of pasta or a tin of spaghetti. Every little helps, and over the course of a few weeks you could have quite the hamper for someone in need. You could make it a regular Tuesday thing!

It doesn’t have to be just food – Have a clear out and see if you have anything you could donate. If you have a closet full of clothes that don’t quite fit, or you never get to wear, you could declutter now and make room for some new threads at Christmas.

Host a Community Event

This time of year is great for bringing people together – From carol singing to Christmassy coffee mornings, litter-picking to car boot sales.

There are so many events you could host that would not only raise money and bring people together, but also a chance to raise awareness of your charitable cause.

Shout It Loud

There are so many different ways you can give to charity. We have a wealth of fundraising ideas here on our blog, as well as plenty of information about our innovative digital fundraising tools to help you fundraise faster online.

The most important thing to remember this #GivingTuesday is to shout loud about however you’re giving and be proud of your efforts. You never know, you could just motivate and encourage someone else to do the same.
