Here at Donater, we are well aware that not everyone who is organising a fundraising event or raising money for a worthy cause is a ‘professional fundraiser.’ Oftentimes, you are a member of a school PTA, parishioner helping their local church, or a supporter of a cause close to your heart.
You might not have the professional expertise of managing fundraising campaigns, but we know what you do have is heart, empathy and compassion at your core, giving you the drive and motivation to make your fundraisers as successful as possible.
And that’s why we want to help you make them as straightforward as possible too.
Why can simple fundraisers sometimes be the best?
If fundraising isn’t something you do for a living, then you most likely have plenty of other things to do with your time – A job, study, a family, a home.
So your fundraising efforts need to be simple – Fundraisers that are quick to organise yet still bring in the money.
Fundraising tools to help you raise more money – Simply
Tech has awarded the fundraising industry with plenty of new and efficient tools to help you fundraise. Here at Donater we have a suite of online fundraising tools to help you raise more money digitally.
Specifically designed to make giving easier, our online fundraising tools make it easier for the donor to make a donation, and easier for charitable organisations to receive that all-important fundraising.
Our suite of online fundraising tools include:
- A dedicated online fundraising page, personalised to your charity or good cause. Supporters will immediately recognise your branding and thus, trust that they are in the right place to make a donation. Online fundraising pages are easy to share online via a handy link, and can be easily linked to your website with a ‘Donate Now’ button.
- QR codes. We’ve all become more accustomed to QR codes, so you’ll know how quick and easy it is to scan one with your smartphone. QR codes can be just as handy for taking donations. All your supporter has to do is scan the QR code with their smartphone, and it will take them to your online donation page. Once there, they can choose to donate with a tap via Google Pay or Apple Pay, or pay with their bank details. QR codes are a great addition to any physical marketing about your event, such as posters or newsletters as well as transforming a traditional donation box into a mobile way of taking digital donations.
- NFC Tags. Our NFC tags take the above QR code concept a step further, and enable any supporter of yours with an NFC enabled smartphone to merely tap the tag or sticker. They will then be taken to an online donation page where they can make their donation quickly and simply. These work better with in-person events, but could easily be placed at the entrance to your charity or on collection boxes so visitors can donate to your cause if they wish.
What are the easiest ways to fundraise?
There are plenty of fundraisers that are easy to organise. Simple, straightforward and successful is the name of the game!
Here are some of our favourite easy ways to fundraise for your cause.
Bake Sale
Simple and yet so effective – Who can resist a cookie or a slice of cake?
Loose Change
You’ll be surprised at how effective having a loose change jar can be in opportune placements. And if you’re thinking how people don’t tend to carry change anymore, then you might also like to think about adding one of our Donater QR codes to your change box so people can donate on their mobile if they feel inclined.
Guess the … Jar
Super easy to organise and very popular! All you have to do is fill a jar with jellybeans and charge people 50p or a pound to have a guess!
Business Partnerships
Businesses generally want to be seen as caring about their local community – It helps them as much as it helps you! Don’t be afraid to ask for partnerships with local businesses – Think restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, maybe even gyms! They could help with something as simple as a collection box by their point of sale, or even a day per month whether a percentage of their takings go towards your cause! They may also be able to sponsor some of your fundraising events.
Tea and Coffee Sale
A bit like cake really – Who can pass by a cup of tea or coffee? Very easy to organise – All you need are a couple of hot water urns you’re pretty much good to go.
Photo Day
Do you know a local photographer that might be willing to donate their time? Particularly useful for those that want to spread the word about their photography business! Ask them to create a simple set up where supporters can bring their child or pet and have their photo taken – For a small donation to your cause.
Donate a ‘Coffee’
Think of things that people buy everyday without even thinking about the costs accrued – A coffee on the way to work, lunch from the cafe round the corner, a snack on the way to the train station? All seemingly small amounts of money – And easy for you to ask for! All your supporters need to do is donate what they would normally pay for that morning cup of coffee to your cause.
Give An Hour
People might baulk at the idea of donating their time – We get it, time is precious and we don’t have a lot of it to spare! But what about if they donated the equivalent of what they earned in an hour to your cause instead? Simple, straightforward and easy for you as well as the donor. We’ve written a whole blog on this one before, as we love the concept!
Plant Sale
This one takes a little more forethought as you need to plant the seeds in advance. But once they’re planted, all you have to do is nurture them into seedlings ready to sell. Growing your own vegetables saw a big boom during lockdown – Give people a headstart and start their tomatoes off for them.
The ‘Do Nothing’ Event
Does anyone feel a bit like their life is too social now? Like you haven’t quite got used to it all again. Too many friends and family to catch up with, too many gatherings, too many dinners and drinks out, too many invitations! Give your supporters an excuse to stay in with this ‘non-event’ event! Give them a date and time – And tell them to do nothing! Stay in, watch TV, order take-away – Whatever they fancy! All for a small donation to your cause – Afterall, you are giving them an excuse to turn down that other thing.
