Springtime Fundraising Ideas

Dare we mention Spring when the weather has felt so grey and rotten… But the glimpses of sunshine have been so lovely, even feeling a little bit warm at times!

We’re not the only ones looking forward to Spring – The daffodils seem to be blooming and turning their heads towards more sunshine too!

So with Spring in mind, we thought we would share a few fundraising ideas that are perfect for this time of year!

It’s Not Too Late for Lent

Lent might have already begun, but that doesn’t mean your supporters can’t still choose to give something up. Whether it’s chocolate, crisps or alcohol! The harder it is, the higher the chances of using it as an opportunity to gather sponsors and fundraise!

Alternatively, you could ask your supporters who have given up something for lent – Maybe it’s their mid-morning coffee or afternoon treat – To donate all the money they’re saving from skipping them!

A Donater online donation page is the perfect accompaniment to a fundraiser like this. Easily shared online, donors can click and make their donation online in a flash.

Pyjama Party

Apparently today (Monday 7th) is National Cereal Day! Why not pair this with a pyjama party where you serve a breakfast buffet for dinner? Think cereals galore, various milks and maybe some pastries! Encourage your supporters to take part and make donations.

Make a Donation in Her Honour

Is there a special woman in your life that inspires you? This International Women’s Day (Tuesday March 8th) why not ask your supporters to share the ladies in their lives, and make a donation to your cause in her honour? They might also inspire others to do the same!

Go Green for St Patrick’s Day

On the 17th March it’s St Patrick’s Day – So why not encourage your supporters to dress in green and make a donation to your cause? This is such an easy fundraiser to organise, and would work so well in any organisation – From Schools to offices, hospices to churches!

Spring to Action

On March 20 it is the Spring Equinox – Officially the start of warmer weather, sunnier days (and showers, probably) and generally a time for renewed energy and the urge to get outside. So what a great chance to encourage your supporters to ‘Spring to Action’ for your charitable cause! Perhaps they could volunteer their time for a community project, or make a donation towards your worthy cause. The start of a new season is the perfect time to launch new fundraisers.

Buy Back an Hour

On the 27th March we spring forward an hour by changing our clocks. Can you spare an hour? This is a great opportunity to ask your supporters if they would consider donating an hours pay towards your good cause – Effectively buying back an hour of your vital time to help those who need it.

We have a similar blog you might like on this – You can read it here

Host an Easter Egg Hunt

On the 17th April it’s Easter! A weekend where families get together all over the country. An Easter Egg Hunt with a small entry fee is a fantastic way to engage new supporters – Young and old – With your cause. Hiding chocolate eggs can feel a bit risky with our British weather, so why not hide clues along with suggested donation amounts. Our Donater QR codes would be a fantastic addition to your hunt clues by providing an easy way for donors to make mobile donations quickly using their Smartphone.

Host a Planting Party

Springtime gets us all wanting to spend more time outdoors in the garden or in places of nature. Watching flowers start to bloom can bring so much joy! There is so much peace to be found in plants. Host a Planting Party where for a small fee, supporters can come and plant a bulb or some seeds to take away with them. Then they can watch it bloom at home – Which could even result in more donations later on!

Sponsored Step Challenge

With more sunshine comes more time outdoors. So many people have step counters on their phone or smart watch – Why not use that information to set a challenge and raise sponsorships? Perhaps 30 days for 30K steps – With a monetary target to match!

Digital Fundraising is easy to Integrate with Donater

Here at Donater we have a suite of fundraising tools specifically designed to make giving easier. Easier for the donor to make a donation, and easier for charitable organisations to receive that all-important fundraising.

Our suite of online fundraising tools include:

A dedicated online fundraising page, personalised to your charity or good cause. Supporters will immediately recognise your branding and thus, trust that they are in the right place to make a donation. Online fundraising pages are easy to share online via a handy link, and can be easily linked to your website with a ‘Donate Now’ button.

QR codes. We’ve all become more accustomed to QR codes with the NHS Covid app, so you’ll know how quick and easy it is to scan one with your smartphone. QR codes can be just as handy for taking donations. All your supporter has to do is scan the QR code with their smartphone, and it will take them to an online donation page. Once there, they can choose to donate with a tap via Google Pay or Apple Pay, or pay with their bank details. QR codes are a great addition to any physical marketing about your event, such as posters or newsletters as well as transforming a traditional donation box into a mobile way of taking digital donations.

NFC Tags. Our NFC tags take the above QR code concept a step further, and enable any supporter of yours with an NFC enabled smartphone to merely tap the tag or sticker. They will then be taken to an online donation page where they can make their donation quickly and simply. These work better with in-person events, but could easily be placed at the entrance to your charity or on collection boxes so visitors can donate to your cause if they wish.
