Pancake Day Fundraisers

Pancake Day Fundraisers

It’s Pancake Day tomorrow!

And as with most special days of the calendar, this day brings lots of opportunities for fundraising. Especially great for school PTA’s, Pancake Day fundraisers also work well for churches and other community based charitable organisations. You could even take the fundraising online!

So here are some flipping good ideas for fundraising this Shrove Tuesday:

  1. Pancake Picture Competition

Let’s face it, Instagram will be full of pancake selfies on Pancake Day! People love the opportunity to show off their creations, or Boomerang their flip fails! Why not encourage your supporters to photograph their finished pancake, make a small donation to your charity, and share the image on their social platform of choice – Tagging in you and your online donation details.

You can then collate your favourites and ask your supporters to vote for their favourite! Award the winner with a small but meaningful prize.

Don’t have online donations set up? Donater online fundraising technology can help you get set up for online donations quickly and easily. With a handy Donate Now button on your website, and a dedicated, branded Online Donation Page, it’s easy for donors to make a donation online or on their mobile. It’s also simple to share online!

  2. Pancake Race

We wouldn’t recommend doing this with hot frying pans (!!) but holding a Pancake Race with pre-cooked pancakes is an excellent way of bringing the fun factor! Whether it’s between the teachers of your school, or a parent-and-child event after school has finished, you could raise money by charging an entry fee to the race, encourage entrees to gain sponsorship money for taking part, or a small fee to watch the fun unfold. This could also work well after a church service!

If you are on the donating side rather than the fundraising side, why not organise a Pancake Race in your office? All the money you raise, you can donate to a charity of your choice!

This could also be a virtual race! Participants could video how long it takes for them to run a set distance with their pancake – Without dropping it! Or you could set up a live stream on your Facebook or Instagram, where people can watch the race on-the-go or from home – With a handy link to your online donation page so they can donate.

Donater online donation pages suggest 3 different donation amounts to donors. Research has shown that people are more likely to make a bigger donation if they have an amount suggested to them.
  1. Sponsored Pancake Flip

How many times do you think you could flip a pancake in 1 minute? Or how long do you think it would take you to flip it 100 times? Encourage your supporters to partake in a sponsored pancake flip – They can get their friends and family to sponsor them!

This one is another great opportunity to share their success (or flipping failure) online! Videos or photos can be shared on any social platform, tagging your charity and info on how to make a donation.
  1. Recipe Ideas

Nowadays, it’s super easy to create a digital file and sell it. Cook up some creative pancake recipes and sell the digital file for a small donation! The money goes direct to your cause, and the recipe goes straight to the donors inbox.

Encourage participants to share a photo of their version of your recipe online to reach more people.

A Donater QR code would make a great addition to the recipe sheet. Simple and easy to use, anyone enjoying those yummy pancakes can just scan the QR code with their smartphone, and they will be taken straight to your online donation page ready to make a donation with Google Pay or Apple Pay. Quick, easy, mobile and contactless!

Digital Fundraising is easy to Integrate with Donater

Here at Donater we have a suite of fundraising tools specifically designed to make giving easier. Easier for the donor to make a donation, and easier for charitable organisations to receive that all-important fundraising.

Our suite of online fundraising tools include:

A dedicated online fundraising page, personalised to your charity or good cause. Supporters will immediately recognise your branding and thus, trust that they are in the right place to make a donation. Online fundraising pages are easy to share online via a handy link, and can be easily linked to your website with a ‘Donate Now’ button.

QR codes. We’ve all become more accustomed to QR codes with the NHS Covid app, so you’ll know how quick and easy it is to scan one with your smartphone. QR codes can be just as handy for taking donations. All your supporter has to do is scan the QR code with their smartphone, and it will take them to an online donation page. Once there, they can choose to donate with a tap via Google Pay or Apple Pay, or pay with their bank details. QR codes are a great addition to any physical marketing about your event, such as posters or newsletters as well as transforming a traditional donation box into a mobile way of taking digital donations.

NFC Tags. Our NFC tags take the above QR code concept a step further, and enable any supporter of yours with an NFC enabled smartphone to merely tap the tag or sticker. They will then be taken to an online donation page where they can make their donation quickly and simply. These work better with in-person events, but could easily be placed at the entrance to your charity or on collection boxes so visitors can donate to your cause if they wish.
